Ashley Graham’s accomplishments go beyond her becoming the first plus size model to be featured in a Sports Illustrated ad and the countless campaigns she has been a part of. Whitney Thompson made her way into the modeling industry by becoming the first plus size model to win the title of America’s Next Top Model. Whitney launched a jewelry and candle collection called “Supermodel” in 2014 and even owns her own restaurant!
Denise Bidot made history at New York Fashion Week in 2014 when she became the first plus size model to walk two runways for straight-size brands, CHROMAT and Serena Williams’ HSN fashion line. You may recognize this Latina, international model from her appearance on the Tyra Banks Show during a segment on self-image.
Philomena Kwao has modeled for international brands such as Torrid, Nordstrom, Lane Bryant and Evans. She is proof that beauty and brains is a great combination since she has a Master’s degree in International Health Management. Precious Lee is one of the first size-14 African American women to appear in an ad in the same issue of Sports Illustrated that Ashley Graham covered. Precious can be seen in the Lane Bryant “This Body” ad which revealed her to the world.
